In this workshop, Lyn Belisle shows how to choose and combine compelling digital and found elements into layered encaustic collages, producing works that fascinate the viewer through implied stories and myths. With Lyn’s gentle approach, you will learn how to create wax-veiled works that inspire new conversations and stories, works that reflect your creative aesthetic and refine the choices that make your art unique.
Going Deeper: Digital imagery, altered paper collage, and encaustic have a natural affinity. Photographs capture an unrepeatable moment in a split second of time, a collection of light transmuted into a trace image. Collage with intriguing paper reassembles these moments into a new reality, deepening the complexity of the story by adding intuitive inscriptions and ephemeral elements. Instructor Lyn Belisle is a Texas-based mixed-media artist known for her evocative and intuitive creations that blend ancient influences with modern techniques. With a background in design, teaching, and fine art, Belisle specializes in encaustic, clay, and fiber arts, weaving narrative layers of texture and symbolism into each piece. Her work often explores themes of myth, spirit, and nature, inviting viewers into a tactile, contemplative experience. Lyn’s art has been featured in exhibitions nationwide, and she leads workshops that inspire creativity and self-discovery. She is also a co- founder of The Enso Circle, an online artist residency focused on artistic growth and collaboration.
She received her BA from Texas A&M University and her MA from Trinity University. She recently retired from the Computer Science Department at Trinity University where she taught innovative graphic design in the Department of Computer Science. |
