The Art League's Semmes Studio Limit 8 Participants TUITION: $55 This engaging and imaginative workshop invites participants to explore self-expression and connection through collage, writing, and creative reflection. Designed for up to 8 participants, the 3-hour session offers a unique blend of hands-on artmaking, introspection, and community-building. Part One: “I Am a Flower” The session begins with a guided poem and short meditation to inspire participants to reflect on the different parts of a flower as metaphors for the many aspects of themselves. A series of thought-provoking questions will help spark ideas. Using magazines as a creative resource, participants will design a flower that represents their personal qualities and experiences. This can be created as a flat or three-dimensional piece. Following the creation process, participants will engage in a reflective writing exercise using unique journaling techniques. Sharing reflections is optional to foster a comfortable and supportive environment. A brief 10-minute break will follow. Part Two: “The Garden of Friends”
The second segment focuses on the theme of support and connection through the imagery of a “garden of friends.” Participants will reflect on their friendships and the support they receive from their personal networks. Guided questions will prompt creative exploration, followed by the opportunity to create a "garden of friends" in the form of a pop-up card or tunnel book. This activity celebrates the nurturing and uplifting role of friendships. The session concludes with a second reflective writing exercise. Materials and Cost: All supplies will be provided. A materials fee of $10 per participant is required. This workshop combines artistic expression, mindfulness, and personal reflection, offering a meaningful and enjoyable creative experience. |
