Learn to write an artist statement that best describes your work! Use your smartphone and brief writing and interview exercises to craft artist statements for your website, an exhibited work, a series or just to clarify your own focus as an artist.
Reconnect with the joy in your art through writing, interviewing and by giving and receiving feedback. Bring a desire to craft a new artist statement, a few digital images of your work and a voice recording app on your smartphone. |
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADERS: SUSIE MONDAY AND LINDA CUELLAR
We help guide the participants with oral and written exercises exploring the joy and meaning that each artist finds in their art and art making. We do this individually and in pairs (working with a partner) responding to writing and interview prompts and also using recording technologies readily available on smart phones.

Susie Monday is an artist and teacher who works from her studio in Pipe Creek, about an hour from downtown San Antonio. Her large textile collage stitched art evokes the culture, stories and landscapes of the Texas Borderlands — and the inner creative life of the artist. Working in mixed media on fabric, Susie dyes, screen prints and/or digitally designs much of the fabrics she uses.

Linda Cuellar is a life-long learner, aspiring bon vivant, media artist and writer. She has produced documentaries for the local PBS station and worked as a producer and broadcast journalist for numerous radio and TV stations in the region. She taught Mass Communication and Media Literacy at Northwest Vista College 2002-2017. She earned her doctorate in Education in 2009 from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi.
