Criteria for displaying work in the SAALM Small Works Gift Shop (for member artists) from
Dona Walston, Gift Shop Curator
- Ceramics must be hand built or made with artist-created molds.
- Jewelry must include primarily handmade elements (handmade beads, metal or plastic pieces, etc.).
- Cards, matted original works, original photographs and prints in mats (no larger than 11 X 14) must be original or reproductions of your original work.
- SAALM Small Works Gift Shop should feature artisan quality items not readily available in retail stores. Quality, not quantity, is the key.
Showing in the gift shop is open to any member who is current on membership. Please contact Dona Walston if you want to start showing your work in the small works gift shop so that my jury of three can be present to assess the compatibility of your work, preferably the first Wednesday of the month.
We will try to include work that is seasonal in our offerings. Members who show in the SAALM Small Works Gift Shop are encouraged to show their best original work. Work that is smaller with lower price points work best for this gallery. Because of space limitations, only work that can fit into the shelving and counter space will be accepted.
Dona will be available at SAALM on the first and third Wednesdays of every month from 10-3; any artwork you add to your display must be done when I am present.
- You will need to sign and bring in the consignment contract.
- You will need to bring in the inventory form of work that you intend to submit and work that you will use as replacement when you come.
- Each item must have a string label or a sticky label with your initials and a number on it. (“DLW 16” for example) Tags and labels will be available for you at the Art League.
- All labels should be consistent and computer generated from your inventory form.
You are expected to replace works that are sold. Members who sell work are encouraged to replace work as soon as possible. The Art League treasurer will review the receipts and write checks for sales at the end of each quarter. Thank you!
