Considered by some as the San Antonio Art Community’s power couple, Lionel & Kathy Sosa are each very respected artists in their own right. They speak to the art, history and culture of their home, San Antonio.
Together, they created “La Gloriosa Historia de San Pedro Creek on My Mind: A Story in Five Episodes,” along the new San Pedro Creek Culture Park, telling the history of the people and their lives along the creek through the centuries. This art mural lines the walls between West Commerce and Cesar Chavez Blvd.
Lionel Sosa is an independent marketing consultant and nationally recognized portrait artist. He is the founder of Sosa, Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, which became the largest Hispanic advertising agency in the U.S. Lionel has authored 3 books and is the co-author to 2 others.
A renowned artist, Kathy was commissioned by the Texas Women’s Conference to do a portrait of keynote speaker Martha Stewart. She received national recognition for her traveling exhibition “Huipiles: a Celebration,” which debuted at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C. as part of the Smithsonian Latino Center’s 2007 summer season before traveling to the Museo Alameda in San Antonio in 2008. 2009. Currently, she mounts shows in New York City and Tulsa. Her work is available in San Antonio through AnArte Gallery and the Regalo Gift Gallery at the Museo Alameda.
