Texas Legacy: Hidden Gems from the Permanent Collection

Drawn from the San Antonio Art League + Museum’s permanent collection, these rarely seen works span more than twelve decades of Texas art.

Major new sculpture acquisition: BRIDGE ONE
Bridge One is a sculptural tribute to the historic Hays Street Bridge. Created by artists James Wyatt Hendricks and Luis “Chispas” Guerrero, the work is made from historic beams and girders removed from the bridge — materials that might otherwise have been lost. Instead, they were transformed into a new form that honors both the bridge’s physical strength and its cultural meaning.

CURRENT WORK IN OUR MEMBERS GALLERY

A major membership bonus for artist members is the open invitation to show in our Members' Gallery for three months based on a first-come, first serve application process. Opened in September of 2017,  the highly successful SAALM Members Gallery offers a rare opportunity for visitors to view and purchase works from outstanding Art League member artists in a salon-style setting.

The San Antonio Art League was organized on March 13, 1912. It was founded by volunteers, and continues into its second century as an all-volunteer non-profit arts organization, carrying on the rich traditions and history of its founders while providing contemporary exhibition opportunities for its member artists. 

The San Antonio Art League and Museum is a unique hybrid of past, present, and future. As a volunteer you can help in ways that match your skills and interests. Please join us by giving your time – it’s incredibly rewarding.
