Having worked previously in theater and dance RitaMaria Contreras's visual work is a natural progression from her prior performance work. It embodies the lyrical and rhythmic sensibilities honed during her time as an actor, choreographer, and dancer. Contreras has exhibited ceramic sculptures, installations, drawings, paintings, and is now exploring mixed media creating small multi-layered collages. Contreras's work is in the permanent collection at the University of Texas at San Antonio, University Hospital, as well as in many private collections.
