$85 Tuition SAALM Members

All Basic Materials Provided
In this all-level class, Michelle Belto shares the techniques she uses to create a variety of richly textured surfaces with encaustic paint. She will demonstrate building layers of pigmented wax and then working with subtractive techniques such as scratching, scraping and incising to bring up underlying colors, often with surprising results. This class lends itself to personal experimentation.
For those new to encaustics this class will introduce the basic techniques of layering and fusing, mark making and working with texture. Participants can expect to take home a small, completed painting.
