SAALM AND FASA (Fiber Artists of San Antonio) present A WEEKEND SHOWCASE AND SALE OF FIBER ART!
About the “FALL FOR FIBER” POP-UP SHOP at the S.A. ART LEAGUE
Picture
For the first time in its 107-year history, the Artist of the Year Committee has chosen a fiber artist as its Artist of the Year for 2019. Jane Dunnewold was selected through a year-long two-part process, beginning with a list of 10 renowned regional artists, and ending with three finalists whose portfolios were evaluated by three out-of-state art academicians, gallerists, and curators. Congratulation, Jane!!

Sunday, Sep 8, 3-5 p.m.  - Opening SAALM Artist of the Year 2019 Jane Dunnewold

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE POP-UP SHOP
As an extension of Jane Dunnewold's one-person retrospective exhibition, the Art League is collaborating with the Fiber Artists of San Antonio to present a two-day pop-up “Fall for Fiber” show and sale on the grounds of the San Antonio Art League & Museum in the historic King William District.

Sat., Sun. Sept 21-22, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Set-up 9-11 on Saturday, Take-down 4-5 on Sunday

  • Applicant must be a current FASA Member
  • Eight long tables will be available, tables provided by the Art League
  • Table Fee $40, may be shared by two artists maximum
  • Artists are responsible for their own sales (and tax collection, if applicable)
This collaborative event is designed to honor Jane, our first fiber artist to be chosen for Artist of the Year, to showcase the variety of processes possible in the inclusive term “fiber art,” and to raise awareness about the talented members of the Fiber Artists of San Antonio, many of whom are also active members in the San Antonio Art League.

FIBER ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS:
--Work must be prepared and presented in a professional manner.
--All types of fiber art are eligible (including 3-D, free standing, and art-to-wear) for the pop-up shop.
--Small-scale artwork is recommended because buyers tend to gravitate toward pieces that they can
purchase and take with them
--Because SAALM has limited display items and space, any jewelry, elaborate display fixtures should be avoided.
--Work should be high quality and professionally displayed, as it will be shown alongside other highly established artists' works.
--Please keep in mind that SAALM leadership reserves the right to not accept work if it does not fit these aesthetic standards.
If there are more applicants than space, artists will be chosen by consensus of the SAALM  event committee on the basis of best fit for the Pop-Up shop bases on their submitted example photos.

If you are a member of the Fiber Artists of San Antonio and would like to apply for the "Fall for Fiber" pop-up shop on September 21-22 at the San Antonio Art League, please fill out the information below and use the link at the end to upload two images of representative work that you will be selling.

The deadline is August 18. You will be notified by August 20 if your application has been accepted.

Hopefully, there will be room for everyone who applies!
