Show Your Work in the Members Gallery

As a SAAL+M member artist, the Members Gallery offers you a unique opportunity to exhibit and sell your original work in a dedicated, salon-style space on our second floor — with no jurying process standing between your art and the public. It's a rare kind of freedom: you choose what to show, how to arrange it, and you keep the majority of every sale. Beyond the exposure and income potential, showing in the Members Gallery connects you with the local community and visiting collectors who come to SAAL+M specifically to discover and take home work by League artists. How the Rotation Works

• The Members Gallery is open to any artist who is a current SAAL+M member.

• Ten artists are chosen at random from those who have expressed interest, and each group shows for an approximately three-month rotation.

• A second rotation for the same members only begins once every interested member has had a chance to show.

• After signing up online, you'll be notified by email about a month before your show is set to be installed.

Where It's Located

The Members Gallery sits on SAAL+M's second floor, in a room just behind the larger second-floor gallery space.

Paperwork and Images

Once you're selected, the Members Gallery Chair and Co-Chair will email you everything you need, including:

• A SAAL+M Members Gallery Artist Contract (signed and returned)

• An Inventory Form listing the artwork you're submitting, plus any replacement pieces — this generates your title cards

• One representative image of your work for a group digital postcard announcing the show (you won't need to photograph every individual piece)

• A short biography and photo of yourself for an Artist Profile, which we frame and display alongside your work

Jurying and What to Bring

There's no jury for the Members Gallery — it's entirely self-selected. Since the space is intended as an affordable, small-works gallery, smaller pieces with lower price points tend to work best. A few things to know:

• Reproductions and Artist Enhanced Reproductions are welcome, as long as the title card clearly notes the medium

• 3D work is displayed in a vertical, five-shelf glass display cabinet

• Loose items like note cards or matted work in bins/baskets aren't suitable for this space — only hung work

• Each artist's space is approximately 55" wide by 80" tall, though exact configurations vary slightly by location in the room. Spaces are marked and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis on hanging day

• Visiting the gallery ahead of your show -- and laying out your pieces at home first — can make installation day much smoother

Hanging Your Show

The gallery uses a cable hanging system rather than nails (the walls won't allow it), so all work needs a wire hanger. Work should be "finished" for display — some artists paint their canvas edges or use wrap-around images, while others use simple, inexpensive frames.

Title cards are prepared for you by the Gallery Coordinators once you submit your Inventory Form (due two weeks before your hanging day); just note that very long titles may need to be shortened to fit the label.

Getting your work upstairs: the outside stairs near the back parking lot are wider and easier to navigate than the interior staircase, and an elevator is available if needed. The Members Gallery Chair will be on-site to help during your installation.

Marketing and Sales

All work in the Members Gallery must be available for purchase — the space exists to help members and visitors alike discover and collect original art from SAAL+M's artist community.

• Sales split: 60% to the artist, 40% to SAAL+M as a consignment fee

• When a piece sells, the visitor lets a docent know, who removes the artwork and title card and logs the sale in the Members Gallery Notebook; the SAAL+M Treasurer reviews sales and issues checks at the end of the show

• Replacing sold work: simply bring in a piece from your original inventory list, grab the matching title card from your tracking form in the Members Gallery book, and rehang

• Need a piece back for another show? You can remove it — just note on your tracking form that it was removed by the artist, and replace it with another inventoried piece

• Jewelry, cards, and similar items are better suited for the Small Works Gift Shop, which is managed separately.

• Each show is promoted with on the SAAL+M website.
