Teach at the Semmes Studio

Looking for a welcoming, well-equipped space to share your craft with San Antonio's art community? The Semmes Studio, located on the historic grounds of the San Antonio Art League + Museum in the King William Arts District, is available to guest instructors interested in teaching workshops and classes.

How it works

Guest instructors should request studio space at least one month in advance by submitting a workshop description through our online request form, or by emailing Susie Monday, our Educational Outreach Coordinator, directly. Your proposal should include:

• Workshop title and medium

• Duration (days/times)

• Number of participants (eight is ideal)

• A basic description of materials and setup

• Any special needs, such as access to the main building

Tuition and fees

SAAL+M does not charge instructors for use of the studio itself, but does ask for 30% of the tuition collected from participants — so plan your pricing accordingly.

What makes a workshop successful

Based on experience, our most popular workshops (the ones that consistently sell out) share a few things in common: they run no longer than six hours, ideally around four; they're single-day events; they cap enrollment at eight students; they don't require students to purchase expensive or bulky materials; and they're designed to welcome all skill levels.

Once your workshop is confirmed, the Art League will promote it through our newsletter, Facebook page, and — if requested — a direct mailout to our membership, helping to ensure a full room on the day of your class.
